Why VoIP will be everywhere ?
I think the best way to answer this question is to think about how Internet has changed our habits, lifestyle (for some people), and obviously the enormous ecommerce business ... every single business has a website and email addresses - voip will be slow to penetrate on every desk , but you remember how slowly email has been widely adopted ?
Well, VoIP will follow the same path ! Investments are still huge and major carriers are upgrading their network into pure IP telecom infrastructure (cf BT 21st Century network).
Recently, we were wondering why IP routing to India was going through the US ! Well guess what, Teleglobe was deliberately routing the traffic to the US and charging premium rates for low latency routes - this behavior is purely motivated by a VoIP strategy to monetize the opportunity, but off course that's far from the original concept of the Internet.
Anyway, we can't blem those businesses to make money, so make sure you're also using VoIP for your long distance calls ;-)
